With 91% of UK adults reporting high or extreme levels of pressure over the past year, burnout has become a national condition rather than a personal failing. Komiyo is responding this Autumn with GemZen, the world’s first heated crystal wellness mat built around hemispherical crystal pressure technology, made to help people reclaim small moments of stillness and recovery in ordinary days.

The patent-filed mat supports meditation, mindfulness, breathwork and gentle movement including yoga and Pilates. It is the first of its kind to feature 190 carefully selected semi-precious gemstones to lie on. Those stones warm gently during a session, turning rest into a soothing, restorative ritual that helps users unwind and switch off.

GemZen takes its cue from Kaizen, the Japanese belief that small, intentional steps create meaningful change over time. The mat encourages simple daily rituals given over to rest, recovery and reconnection. Sessions run 15 to 30 minutes, long enough to slow down, reset and restore balance. Every gemstone sits in a deliberate position, reflecting holistic wellness traditions and the body’s natural energy flow from root to crown. Nine different gemstones feature across the mat:

Clear Quartz sits at the awareness point, supporting reflection and clarity. Amethyst sits at the insight point, associated with calm and intuition. Lapis Lazuli sits at the expression point, connected with communication and self-expression. Rose Quartz and Jade sit at the heart point, representing balance and compassion. Citrine sits at the power point, symbolising confidence and vitality. Orange Aventurine sits at the flow point, representing creativity and movement. Red Agate and Obsidian sit at the grounding point, representing stability and connection.

Each mat also comes with an IMA Stone, a polished clear quartz ritual object made to rest at the awareness point by your head during use. IMA means the present moment in Japanese, and the stone can be carried through the day as a reminder to pause and return to yourself.

A systematic review of clinical studies found that a single yoga session, including meditation and breathing techniques, can reduce acute stress responses and support emotional wellbeing. Heat therapy has also been shown to ease muscle stiffness and the sensation of tightness, supporting greater comfort during restorative practice.

Diana Bereczki, founder of GemZen by Komiyo, says: “In a world that celebrates constant productivity, stillness has become life’s ultimate luxury. Having spent years working in the corporate world, I saw first-hand how achievement is often celebrated while recovery is overlooked. During my travels through Japan, I became fascinated by a culture that gives equal value to moments of pause, presence and ritual, and by the philosophy of Eko Henshō, to shine the light inwards before you can turn the light outwards.

“Komiyo, and our flagship product GemZen, were created from the belief that stillness isn’t an escape from ambition. It is what allows ambition to become sustainable.”

Komiyo is a Japanese-inspired wellness platform bringing together products, rituals and guided experiences made to help people create moments of stillness.

The Autumn range also includes Komiyo’s Ritual Kits, each paired with a set of ritual guide cards for intentional daily practice: the premium Shizuka Tea Ritual Kit, the Kagayaki Radiance Ritual Kit for facial rituals, and the Nagori Evening Unwind Ritual, with prices starting from £88.

Komiyo is introducing the 21-Day Mindstillness Programme too, a guided digital practice built to encourage pause, clarity and inner reset through daily rituals, alongside the complimentary Energy Flow Quiz, a reflective experience exploring personal balance across seven areas of life, from grounding and creativity to intuition and awareness.
