Ruth Ellis (played by Faye Castelow, above) was the last woman to be hanged in the UK in 1955 – she shot her abusive partner only for one bullet to ricochet off and kill an innocent by-stander.
Amanda Whittington’s play, drawn from psychiatric and official reports from the time, tells her story compellingly.
