Looking for somewhere to enjoy a traditional Sunday lunch in London? Look no further. Here, we round up the best places in London for a top roast dinner. Enjoy!
Having scooped the title of ‘Best Sunday Lunch In The UK’ from the Observer Food Monthly, roasts don’t come any more highly recommended than this. Kick off with a Bloody Mary before delving into a tasty rump of longhorn beef with all the trimmings. Expect crisp duck fat roast potatoes, Yorkshire puds “the size of dustbin lids” and lashings of bone marrow and onion gravy. Situated at the site of the old Watney-Combe brewery, the venue itself is worth a visit, with chemistry lab-top bar tables, original vaulted brick ceilings and tiles sourced from London Underground.

The cracking beer garden is a huge draw at this bright and breezy local. There are classy options for Sunday lunch, including skin-on potatoes and regionally sourced meat.

a decent helping of gravy.

This popular Chelsea landmark is just off Fulham Road, so you’ll spot more than a few football fans either celebrating or drowning their sorrows after a big match. With a huge seated pavement terrace (it’s heated), you can enjoy a traditional Sunday lunch while soaking up the sun or watching the big sporting events over a couple of decent pints.

Decked out like a fancy home, this new venue boasts a comfortable, rustic charm. For Sunday lunch, choose from beef, pork or a whole chicken served with stuffing, pigs in blankets, roast pots and veg. And if you don’t manage to polish off every morsel, the kitchen will pack it up for you to eat at home.

Spilling over five floors, with a different theme on each, including an elegant roof terrace, this boutique gastropub has something for everyone. Head downstairs for a lively atmosphere and comfy seating for Sunday lunch, before making your way to the second floor for top DJs.

If you’re a bit of a heathen and fancy something other than roast for Sunday lunch, head to this contemporary Italian restaurant. Feast on four courses, which change weekly but have included delights such as tagliarini with brown shrimp, yellow and green courgette and chilli; fresh almond and parsley salad; mackerel with farro pilaf; and beef onglet with rainbow chard and horseradish. The wine list is pretty darn impressive, too.

This might be a bit more pricey than your average Sunday tucker, but with a name like Roast, you can expect your meat and trimmings to be spot-on. Celebrating all-things British, the venue sources much of its produce from nearby Borough Market, championing local farmers.

Take the edge off your hangover with a free Bloody Mary when you book for Sunday lunch at this chain’s four venues. Choose from the Refinery on Bankside, the Parlour in Canary Wharf, The Folly in the City or the Drift on Bishopsgate – then decide on your roast. There’s the slab of British beef with creamed horseradish; a whole free-range chicken with lemon and thyme served with bread sauce and crispy bacon; or tender pork belly with crackling, Bramley apple sauce and gravy. All meats are served with veg and fluffy-in-the-middle beef-dripping roast potatoes which claim to be nearly as good as your mum’s.

With top views of the Thames, this is a great place to head to for lazy summer afternoons. Choose from lounging in the beer garden or reclining on the riverside terrace while tucking into a mouth-watering menu and supping a Real Ale. Up for grabs is Kilracock pork belly; Scotch beef sirloin; or lemon & thyme chicken breast with all the trimmings.

Tuck in to top nosh while kicking back and listening to the sounds of jazz, swing, soul and blues. With splashes of bright orange, comfy cream sofas and a piano, this new venue (left) is putting a modern twist on Sunday lunch. Diners can choose from chicken, pork, beef or veggie roast with the usual trimmings, followed by a delicious calorific dessert.

The clue’s in the title as to what this pub once operated as. Now, it’s well known for serving top food in a magnificent venue with a friendly atmosphere. It’s perfect for Sunday lunch. As well as a choice of beef, chicken, port and lamb, there’s a leek & stilton filo parcel served with all the trimmings for the veggies. Finish off with a classic such as Eton mess or banana egg custard.
