John Terry claims in court he isn't racist and supports African charities

Chelsea FC captain John Terry, on trial for a racial abuse offence, today tried to get the case against him thrown out, his lawyer saying the case against his client was 'so weak and tenuous it does not warrant it going any further'.
Terry claimed his ongoing support for African charities demonstrated that he was not a racist.
He denied racially abusing QPR rival Anton Ferdinand, and said if he had wanted to racially abuse him he would have whispered in his ear to avoid being caught by the cameras and fans.
In earlier evidence from a statement to the FA, Terry said he felt 'hurt' and 'surprised' by the allegation and that he could find 'two thousand people' who would stand up and say he was not a racist.
However, Chief Magistrate Howard Riddle found that there was a case to answer, but said it would be 'inappropriate' to give reasons at this stage.
