The yet to be identified head was found by a member of the public in Regent’s canal.
A police officer working on the case said:"We can confirm that a head was recovered from Regent's Canal yesterday afternoon.
It is still yet to be identified," reported Channel 4 News. Like something out of a UK soap opera script, the decapitated remains of Gemma McCluskie were found in the same waters six months ago.
Actress McCluskie, played the character Kerry Skinner in the UK's popular drama EastEnders. She had been missing for seven days before her remains were discovered in the canal.
She shared a home with her brother Tony McCluskie on Pelter Street in Hackney, and was last seen at the residence after attending the extravagant £650m opening of Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, east London .
Her ex-colleagues including Natalie Cassidy, who plays Sonia Fowler in the show, and Brooke Kinsella, known for her role as Kelly Taylor in the soap, were hugely concerned with McCluskie disappearance.
They appealed for information via Twitter. Gemma McCluskie's brother Tony will stand trial for her murder on November 12.
