The Royal Mail is whizzing out stamps to honour London 2012 Olympics gold medal winners Helen Glover and Heather Stanning who won the Women’s Pair’s rowing final and Bradley Wiggins who took gold in the cycling.

The special edition stamps will be on sale tomorrow, the speediest every production of special edition stamps by the Royal Mail.

If you want to send a letter or just buy one for your stamp collection or London 2012 Olympics scrapbook then you will be able to do so within a flabbergasting 24 hours.

The first stamp shows British women’s rowing team Glover and Stanning waving with joy as they finished their triumphant race.

A second stamp shows Bradley Wiggins on his bike after he won gold in today’s men’s time trial cycling.

The Royal Mail will also paint a red post box in the rowers’ home town gold in honour of the occasion and as more gold medals are won, so too will commemorative stamps be produced.

Moya Greene, Royal Mail Chief Executive, said: “We’re delighted to be issuing these very special Gold Medal stamps to recognise our Olympic champion UK athletes.

“This is a first for Royal Mail and we are proud to play our part in celebrating the many victories this summer.

"We will be printing millions of stamps to enable customers to celebrate these sporting successes and I’m sure they will be treasured as unique souvenirs of Team GB’s victories for years to come.”
