It was an “alleged sex tape” starring one of the biggest stars in music, Kanye West, and an 18-year-old dead ringer for his famous girlfriend, Kim Kardashian.
But now the rapper’s lawyers have issued a cease and desist notice to a number of media outlets, claiming the tape was stolen.
So there you go, it really was Kanye flashing more than his ego about.
“Be advised that the Screen Shot, as well as the Tape from which the Screen Shot was taken, were illegally obtained and believed to have been stolen from Mr. West’s computer,” Kanye’s lawyer Lisa M. Buckley of Pryor Cashman said in a letter to AllHipHop.com, threatening legal action.
“Your posting, advertising, marketing, displaying and otherwise disseminating the stolen Screen Shot and/or other materials on the Tape constitute actionable violations of Mr. West’s rights of privacy and publicity.”
A website has already offered the unidentified holder of the tape US$1 millon for the exclusive rights to the tape, claiming Kanye would be the highest profile sex tape star ever and make him part of the first sex tape “power couple” with Kardashian, whose career was given a boost by her bedroom romp with an ex-boyfriend.
And TMZ now reports that another tape, with another ex, is also doing the rounds, with the celebrity site claiming to have seen both and describing Kanye’s prowess as “almost Sting-like”.
