The Olympic torch only arrived here last week and already there are those looking for profit from their selection as torch bearers, auctioning off their prestigious golden torches on eBay.
Some of the torches are going for six figure sums, with some even being posted by people who have yet to complete their leg of the relay.
“I am so incensed by this total lack of respect for anyone including us folk who were so proud to see you carrying it,” one Mail Online reader said.
The torches cost £495 to make, with those selected to carry them given the option of buying the keepsake for a princely £215.
One seller who is auctioning their torch from the first day of the relay in Cornwall claims that the money raised will go to Cornish mental health charity the Invictus Trust.
