Liverpool’s winger RaheemSterling gets a dressing down from new manager Brendan Rodgers in a new clip from a forthcoming TV documentary Being Liverpool, it has emerged.
Speaking to his team back in the summer during the pre-season in Boston, Rodgers admonishes his young recruit, warming him that he “will be on the first plane home” if he doesn’t buck up his ideas.
“You should be like sponges in here, learning off these guys,” he adds, instructing the younger players in his squad to soak up the experience from the more mature players in the team.
Rodgers’ words seemed to have worked though as Sterling, who receives the brunt of his stern words in the clip below, started for the Merseysiders in last weekend’s home game against current title holders Man City, and greatly impressed, too.
Liverpool took the lead twice in Sunday’s clash with City but were pegged back twice, the team’s sharing the spoils of a 2-2 draw.
