After a weekend that saw England eliminated from the Euros and flood warning for many areas of the country, Wimbledon kicks off today under sunny skies that are set to see the warmest days of the month later this week.
England went out on penalties to Italy and rain and storms ravaged areas of the county, especially the poor folk who endured the mudbath that was the Isle of Wight, but it’s a new week and times are looking up.
The sun is out, with weather forecasters predicting a mid week peak that will see the warmest temperatures of the month bless the hallowed courts of Wimbledon.
With the national team out of the Euros, all eyes will turn to Andy Murray and whether he can find his way through to a Grand Slam title at long last.
Maria Sharipova and Roger Federer begin their Wimbledon campaigns today, with Murray kicking his off tomorrow against one-time world number three Nicolay Davydenko.
