Paralympics 2012: 140,000 more Games tickets go on sale

After having sold about 2.3 million tickets, the London 2012 organisers have made 40,000 sport tickets and 100,000 tickets to the Olympic Park available.

Seb Coe, chair of Locog, said in a statement: “I'm thrilled that we can give even more people the opportunity to experience the Olympic Park, soak up the atmosphere and perhaps catch some Paralympic action on the big screen.”

The Games will be the biggest ever and London is suffering from a Paralympic fever with the 45,000 sports tickets released last week sold in less than two hours.

All tickets to the park, where people still can watch sports such as boccia, wheelchair basketball and goalball on a giant screen, cost under £5 - £1 for people aged under 16 and over 60.

Sir Philip Craven, president of the International Paralympic Committee, told the Independent: "We're seeing the product of the growth in the Paralympic movement. It's so exciting; London will be groundbreaking.

"People are getting to know individuals and seeing Paralympic sport as sport, which is what I've striven to achieve since I became president."

If home fans were excited about the medal haul in the Olympics they should rush to get tickets to the Paralympics.

In Beijing the GB Paralympians won 102 medals, including 42 golds, and are according to UKSport expected to beat that in London to the excitement of many more than the 2.5 million ticket-holders.
