The Olympics apparently did wonders for showcasing Britain but it appears one of the nation’s finest is doing wonders for American tourism.
Since Prince Harry’s naked antics in Las Vegas, holiday and tour companies are reporting a huge surge of interest in Sin City. Hotels.com has experienced 123 per cent increase in the number of searches carried out compared to the equivalent day in 2011.
Virgin Holidays also reported Las Vegas enquiries rising by a third compared to the same week last year.
Meanwhile, witnesses to Harry’s naked cavorting told TMZ that as the party “fired up, several girls began to snap pics on their [mobile phones] ... and one of Harry's minders lackadaisically told the women ‘awww, come on. no photos’”.
As the party became more raucous and it became clear that guests were nuding up, the officers “did nothing” to stop it, they claimed.
Police, however, have defended their handling of the incident.
Bernard Hogan-Howe, the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, said: "Royal protection officers are there to protect him for security reasons. They are not there to regulate his life."
Harry is expected to receive a reprimand from the military when he returns to his army base in Wattisham in Suffolk in the next few days.
Military codes of conduct stipulate officers must maintain high standards of professionalism "both on and off operations".
