We may be in drought, as the countless billboards, and bus stop posters decree, but torrential rain in the last few days and weeks has got to the point where sandbags have been handed out across the country after flash flood warnings have been issued.
More than 40 flood warnings had been issued and five still stand, with residents living in flood risk areas offered free sandbags to protect their properties and livelihoods
.
In Cornwall more than two months rainfall was recorded in a mere 24 hours.
Officials say though that despite this prolonged downpour, the watr table will still remain at a low level. You can bet that hosepipe band will still stand.
