Activists pull a stunt at an investment banking event in Mayfair, by presenting an award for “Innovation in Interest Rate Manipulation”
The footage has been released of the prank, which took place at the Sheraton Hotel, Mayfair.
The financial event in question has been nicknamed the ‘Oscars of the financial world’.
"Some of the world's richest bankers have gathered to congratulate each other on devising ever more creative ways to make themselves obscene sums of money,” says a voice over in the video.
Barclays was fined £290m this year for trying to manipulate the world’s Libor rate.
The protestors took to the stage at the prestigious event to announce an unexpected award, the award for “Innovation in Interest Rate Manipulation,” when asked if a representative would take to the stage to collect the award, the Barclay’s representatives declined.
After exiting the room, the protestors were asked for their video camera, but ran off.
