Russell Brand has joked about his outburst this week, when he snatched a photographer's iPhone and angrily lobbed it through a window.

Comedian, Brand jested that the encounter, in New Orleans, Louisiana, was a tribute to recently deceased Apple founder Steve Jobs.

Police are now reportedly after the larrakin. The celebrity website TMZ has reported a misdemeanour warrant is out for the 36-year-old.

He was reported by photographer Timothy Jackson, who is accusing the star of film Get Him To the Greek, for criminal damages.

He claims the funnyman lost his temper, grabbed the phone from his hand, and threw it through the window of a local law firm.

The man also told the website Brand returned the phone to the photographer after the police arrived.

Brand tweeted his bizarre defence after the incident, saying: “Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iphone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory."

Brand has recently become a bachelor, having split from his wife of 14 months, pop star Katy Perry,

He was spotted on Monday, the day of the incident, with a mystery woman.
Jobs died in October.
