Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks is revered around the world for her shapely curves, but don’t call her ‘full figured’, as one Aussie journalist learned the hard way.
The Sun-Herald’s Kate Waterhouse was interviewing the American star when she quite innocently, and obviously asked about Hendrick’s status has a curvy icon.
'You have been an inspiration as a full-figured woman. What is the most inspiring story that you can remember where you've inspired someone?'
Bizarrely rattled, Hendricks responded: 'Um, I don’t … I’m sorry.'
She then asked her publicist to get Waterhouse, a minor celebrity in her own right who reports on fashion for the Fairfax paper, to rephrase her question.
The reporter was then cut off at her next attempt to rephrase the question: ‘You've been known as an inspiration for women as being a full-figure...'
The flame-haired 37-year-old jumps in again: 'I mean… You just said it again.'
E! Online reports Hendricks saying, off camera, ‘I think calling me full-figured is just rude.’
Hendricks is in Australia and no doubt doing the interview to flog a certain brand of eyewear.
