With the world pinching its belts in these times of austerity, it seems the obvious time to go and build and underwater hotel – yet that’s exactly what is happening in Dubai.
Firm Deep Ocean Technology have signed a deal to build Water Discus Underwater Hotel, a palatial hotel that looks like something out of a Bond movie, with 20 underwater suites.
With a disc shaped design that looks positively space-age, the hotel will also boast a helipad, a swimming pool, restaurants, a spa and a recreational centre too.

The discs themselves will be moveable and so if there is any change in environmental conditions, they can be relocated.
