Adele has broken the record for the longest time at number one for any female solo artist in the UK album chart after spending 10 consecutive weeks at the top spot.

The record was previously held by Madonna’s 1990’s The Immaculate Collection.

Adele’s first album ’19’ is at number two after spending 107 weeks in the UK top 40.

Before releasing ’21’, Adele said she was “frightened” about how it would be received.

In the USA, the album made it to number one in the first week and is still in the top five. 

New entries include Radiohead’s King of Limbs at number seven and Britney Spears’ Femme Fatale at number eight.

In the singles chart, Adele’s single Somebody Like You fell to number two from the top spot following the release of Jennifer Lopez’s new single On the Floor, featuring Pitbull.

Katy B’s new single Broken Record has come in at number eight while former Pussycat Dolls’ Nicole Scherzinger’s Don’t Hold Your Breath has come in at number five.
