The Kangaroos won their place in the preliminary after ending Geelong’s season at the MCG on Friday night and will kick off the penultimate weekend of the year at ANZ Stadium this Friday.

There was just a kick in it as North beat the Cats 14.14 (98) to 13.14 (92).

The Swans had the week off after their qualifying final win over last year’s grand finalists Fremantle.

They’ll face a confident Kangaroos on a roll after two pulsating finals wins so far.

The last time the Roos met the Swans in Sydney back in round four the visitors were 43-point winners.

In the second preliminary final, defending champions Hawthorn have a date at the MCG with Port Adelaide, who did a number on the Dockers in their Saturday clash.

Port will be underdogs against the Hawks despite an impressive 15.15 (105) to 11.17 (83) win at Freo’s Patersons Stadium.

Just like North, Port are riding high as they resurrect some of their early season form at the right time of the year.
