An air and sea search has found no sign of a kayaker missing off the rugged west coast of Victoria since Monday.
A
search for the 39-year-old Peterborough man began last night after his
broken kayak and life jacket were found near Warrnambool.
Local
officers, police aircraft and boats and State Emergency Services (SES)
volunteers searched all day for any sign of the man, but found nothing.
A SES spokeswoman said it was likely the search would resume at first light tomorrow.
The man intended to paddle from Childers Cove, east of Warrnambool, to his home about 20 kilometres away in Peterborough.
Police are hoping to speak to two tourists who are believed to have watched the kayaker embark on his trip.
The man set off around 12.30pm (AEDT) yesterday.
Police were notified he was missing when he failed to arrive home by 5.40pm.
