New hotels have been given the go ahead at the new Pullman Sydney airport, Brisbane airport, the Newcastle domestic terminal and Ibis Mackay airport.

Accor’s Simon McGrath said Australia was undergoing its greatest level of new growth in 20 years, which was reflecting positively in both the travel and investment markets.

“Importantly the hotel development boom is coming at a time of major investment in infrastructure, including airports and convention centres,” said McGrath.

“The development of these facilities will be important to absorb the new supply, but equally, the construction of the new venues and attractions rely on new accommodation being added.”
