“I know it’s funny, this Midwestern guy doing Brazilian songs in Spanish,” admits Nebraska-raised, Valencía-based singer-songwriter Josh Rouse on the press release plugging his eighth album.
But, truth be told, the Spanish-language material on El Turista hangs together better than the songs Rouse sings in his native English.
Skip the hazy Lemon Tree and the faintly Paul Simon-esque I Will Live On Islands and head, instead, for the slinky likes of Duerme.
