Bulgarian Dimitrov was simply too good for the Scot as he waltzed through to the semi-finals 6-1 7-6 6-2 in a touch over two hours.
Eleventh-seed Dimitrov’s victory puts him through to his first Grand Slam semi-final and ended Murray’s 17-match winning streak at the All England Club.
Murray will be absent from the semis for the first time since 2008
After not taking advantage of a break point in the opening game of the match, Murray was made to pay as Maria Sharapova’s boyfriend blitzed through the first set in 25 minutes.
Murray fought to stay in the match, taking the second set to a tie-break but again Dimitrov was too good.
Although coming back from the same two-set deficit in last year’s quarters, Murray couldn’t repeat the feat as Dimitrov cruised to victory.
