Armed police have surrounded a house in Papakura in south Auckland where a man has locked himself inside with a weapon.
Inspector Earle McIntosh of northern police communications said there was no danger to any members of the public and the armed officers squad had the Fulham Place house contained.
They were in the process of negotiating with the man, McIntosh said.
Emergency services were called to the scene about 2pm on Friday.
