Cole is set to appear in Played, a documentary-drama starring Danny Dyer about the high-flying life of football agents in the Premier league.

A source has told The Sun newspaper that the film will reveal all the lurid behind the scenes shenanigans that come part and parcel with being a footy agent, showing that it is not just the pampered premier league stars who know how to misbehave.

If fashioning a career as an actor wasn’t enough, Cole is also moving into film financing too, stumping up part of the cash for Played’s budget. This will be the second time he has acted as co-financier, after 2009’s gangster flick Dead Man Running, which also starred Dyer alongside US rap star 50 Cent.

Played is to be directed by Noel Clarke, the man behind Kidulthood and Adulthood and who also played Mickey Smith in Doctor Who opposite Christopher Eccleston and David Tenant.
