Kutcher will play the former Apple boss in an indie film called Jobs, which follows Jobs’ rise from wayward hippie to technology pioneer.

The 34-year-old Two and a Half Men actor is best known for his comedic acting.

But Kutcher is a big fan of technology and in 2009 he became the first Twitter user to gain more than a million followers.

He has also invested in several technology companies including FourSquare and Skype.

The movie, which starts shooting in May, will be directed by Joshua Michael Stern and written by Matt Whiteley.

It will be produced and financed by Five Star Institute’s Mark Hulme, who is CEO and founder of a Dallas-based mortgage industry group.

A second movie, based on the 2011 biography by Walter Isaacson, is being developed at Sony Pictures Studios.

Jobs died in October last year, aged 56, after a battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 56.
