BFI 54th London Film Festival

WHAT: There are a few high-profile premieres but the real joys of this film festival are the smaller independent pictures. The big-name films this year are Never Let me Go, starring Keira Knightley, and Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours.
WHEN: October 13-28.
DO IT BECAUSE: The BFI is a remarkable resource for film buffs and its annual festival is increasingly well-regarded. The breadth of the programme may be intimidating at first, but take a punt on something different and you may well stumble across a gem.
