Miss good coffee?

Date for the diary: the London Coffee Festival comes to town on April 25-28, providing a reprieve from shitty British coffee with gourmet samples, demonstrations from world-class baristas, masterclasses in making and brewing beans at home, and the chance to try one-off signature drinks in pop-up coffee shop the True Artisan Cafe. Tickets from £9.50.

Chicken party

Have yourself a sinful Sunday this weekend and pop along to Death By Burrito in Dalston, which is being taken over by LA chef Dante and his legendary fried chicken.

This being east London, there’s also an after party in honour of the one-off fast- food residency. Chicken sittings are at 12pm, 3pm and 6pm, and £20 gets you three courses and entry to the shindig, which kicks off at 8.30pm.

Carnival cocktails

Bizarre bar gimmick of the week: Drake & Morgan pubs are launching a new fairground-inspired cocktail menu on April 17, for no reason that we are able to discern. Drinks include the Goldfish In A Bag, which comes with a pink grapefruit fish and edible lily pads, and the Popping Corn, blended with kiwi, prosecco and popping candy.

Not quite odd enough for your taste? Then order up the Rub-A-Dub-Shrub, served in a miniature bath, complete with rubber duckie. Drake & Morgan has venues in east and south London – see the website for more. Drinks from £6.95. Random factor: priceless.
