Connect 4-Play

You can’t really call yourself a hip young thing making the most of London unless you’ve been to brunch at least once at The Breakfast Club, which is celebrating eight years in business this week with loads of Eighties-themed fun.

On Thursday alone, there’s a space hopper race around Hoxton Square and a Rubik’s Cube challenge in the Spitalfields branch, while on Friday you can try Connect 4-Play speed dating in Hoxton and Clapham. As a bonus, money raised from these events will go to Rays of Sunshine, which grants wishes to kids with life-threatening illnesses.

Game (season) on

Calling all carnivores: it’s game season and the city’s restaurants are falling over themselves to get in on the meaty treats. For one, the City’s Paternoster Chop House has created a game and gin cocktail pairing menu (sample match: beetroot martini blended with Hendrick’s gin; pigeon breast on toast served with blackberry and onion chutney). How terribly British.

Cuppas and cocktails

Fancy a pint with your full English breakfast, or maybe you’re more in the mood for a fry-up at 2am? Well weirdoes, your prayers have been answered. Newly refurbished Polo Bar on Bishopsgate is reopening and serving everything from breakfasts and pies to craft beers and Cristal, 24 hours a day. A Great British caff for all hours, where you can enjoy a cuppa or a cocktail whatever the time of day.
