The scene: With brightly-painted walls adorned with murals of Che Guevara and Fidel Castro, this Cuban-themed restaurant/bar throbs to the beat of salsa and Latin music, with Colombian and Cuban bands playing live at weekends. AK47s hang from the walls, while a small statue of the Virgin Mary keeps an eye on punters.

The grub: There’s traditional spicy Cuban dishes, including steak, tuna and pork flavoured with mango and chilli, and they’re served with rice and plantains.

Behind the bar: An impressive cocktail list includes mojitos, caipirinhas, margaritas and daiquiris, as well as a selection of wine and beer – and Cuban cigars.

Bill please: A mojito is £4.95, wine £3.45 and beer £2.95.

Verdict: Popular with large groups, this place has a party atmosphere. Our mojitos were to die for.
