Legend of the screen Doris Day is now the oldest artist to hit the UK Top 10 album chart with her new LP 'My Heart', which landed in the number nine slot this week.
The 87 year old has recorded new material as well as compiling old – the album features 12 previously unavailable songs recorded between 1951 and 1994 and comes a full 62 years after her debut.
The American showbiz icon started as a big band singer in the 1940s and went on to become a star of the silver screen, appearing in 39 films and recording 28 albums. She has most recently used her high profile status to champion animal rights, founding the Doris Day Animal League.
“I was asked to choose the songs I preferred for the album; these are the tunes that reflect my love of animals, my love for my son. They're the dearest things to My Heart." she said.
Doris Day has not one, but two stars embedded into the pavement on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one for her musical achievements and one for her acting career.
