Dukes Hotel, Green Park
The scene: If the news of the royal wedding has made you come over a little regal, head to this hotel bar for some serious grandeur. It’s an elegant mix of traditional gentlemen’s club with a dash of 21st century. The bar is cosy with large seats where you can easily spend an evening sipping cocktails.
Behind the counter: The bar is said to be the very place Ian Fleming came up with the line, “Shaken, not stirred”, so in his honour, try what will be the best dry Martini you ever have. Fancy something with a kick? The Wild Flower Martini is made with two small red chillies – spicy stuff.
The grub: The bar is for drinking only. But the nibbles – huge green olives and nuts – are extremely moreish.
Bill please: Wild Flower Martini is £14.90.
Verdict: Pricey, but a good place to sit and pretend you’re somebody important.
