At around 10am on Tuesday morning, 63-year-old Vasile Belea was left behind on the platform of Stockwell Tube station in south London.
The two were about to get on a Victoria Line train, but the elderly gentleman didn’t get to the doors in time, and missed getting in the carriage.
Police believe that Mr Belea may have got on the next train or might have tried to return to Hackbridge in Sutton, where he was visiting his son for Christmas.
The 63-year-old speaks very little English and didn’t have his arthritis medication with him. Police have described him as six foot tall with grey hair.
A police spokesman added that he was wearing blue jeans, a long dark black jacket and a black flat cap when he was last seen. Mr Belea has money and an Oyster card, he has a phone, but it doesn’t have a SIM card, so he can’t be contacted.
Police are appealing to trace the missing man and are asking anyone with information to call 999 or the Missing People charity on 116 000.
