Living Indie, a London-based, Wayra-backed live-streaming start-up, have launched a battle of the bands contest, and August 26 is the deadline day for submissions.

The contest, called THE ROAD TO SANTA MARIA, gives up-and-coming indie and electronica bands (and singer-songwriters) from across the UK the chance to be live streamed from London’s world-famous 100 Club, and then to play at the Monkey Week festival held in the glorious Spanish port town of Puerto de Santa Maria.

After submitting video links of your original material, you will have a couple of weeks to drum up support online, with the top six acts playing in the final at the 100 Club on September 7.

If your band is one of those acts, and they can subsequently gain the most votes through their social media channels, they’ll be invited to play a set at Monkey Week, Spain’s No.1 music industry festival, in the beautiful coastal town of Puerto de Santa Maria (hence the contest name!).
