A new Facebook group called ‘Support Prince Harry with a naked salute’ features pictures of hundreds of soldiers posing in the nude in their barracks and on tanks in Afghanistan is growing rapidly.
With little more than military kit, hats or even Union Jack flags to cover their modesty, many have also included friendly messages to the prince, such as such as “I salute you prince Harry!!” and “Here’s to you Harry! Keep up the good work!”
Group founder Jordan Wylie told The Mirror ‘I can’t believe how much it’s taken off, it’s unbelievable. I started the group after my mate, who is about to deploy, sent me a picture of himself saluting naked as a joke after hearing about Prince Harry. What started as a jokey conversation in the pub has turned into a huge worldwide thing with people from all kinds of countries getting involved. Thousands of members of the military and ex military are involved, sending us pictures from Afghanistan and everything.’
It seems photographs of third-in-line to the throne playing strip billiards in Las Vegas have done nothing to dent the party prince’s popularity, as over 8,000 members have joined up to the support group already. Or perhaps everyone just wants to look at pictures of naked soldiers.
