We went to Poggibonsi, in countryside Tuscany, and thought that’d be pretty hard to top. But then we came by the Fonte delle Fate (“Fairie’s Fountain”), a 13th century remain which wasn’t rediscovered until the 1800s. Alone with the sunbathing turtles and the calm pools of water, it was the perfect place to chill before heading back out on the road.
