As of last night, BBC One, ITV 1, Channel Four and Channel Five stopped transmitting an analogue signal. BBC 2 beat them all by turning off its analogue signal earlier this month.
The knock on effect is that everybody will now need to swap on over to digital, leaving an estimated 12 million people in London alone affected by this.
In order to counter the onslaught of queries about what digital is, where people can get it and what it means for their TV viewing habits, roadshow have taken place across the capital to ensure the information is disseminated as quickly and easily as possible.
Advice points have also been set up and there is a hotline in place too for people to call with their queries.
To mark this momentous day in history, the Crystal Palace mast in south London will be lit up on Wednesday evening with 200,000 watts of energy efficient lighting in a ceremony attended by Sir David Attenborough and Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans.
