The project was created by a team at the University of Portsmouth.
Geographer Dr Kate Jones explained to the BBC: “When you look at these maps and see the proliferation of bombs dropped on the capital, it does illustrate the meaning of the word Blitz, which comes from the German meaning lightning.
“It seems astonishing that London survived the onslaught.”
The map allows people to zoom into the pinpointed areas and streets hit by each bomb.
An estimated 1.4m people we made homeless during the German attacks and more than 20,000 lost their lives between September 1940 and May 1941.
