The singer has recorded the official World Cup song, We Are One, with rapper Pitbull, and fans had been looking forward to seeing her perform at the 25-minute ceremony.
Of course, nobody can say why she’s chosen to duck out, but it might have something to do with her split with boyfriend Casper Smart, who had reportedly been cheating on her with a transsexual model.
However, Pitbull is choosing to look on the bright side, and is not letting a small matter like this ruin his excitement.
In a statement released by FIFA, he said: “To be performing We Are One to the world, especially in such a beautiful country like Brazil, is going to be a lot of fun. But more than this, it is going to show the world that music is the universal language.”
Maybe FIFA could look at getting a stand-in for Ms Lopez? This lady might be ideal…
