Japanese scientists make meat from poo

Japanese scientists have created steaks based on protein from human poo.

Tokyo Sewage approached researcher Mitsuyuki Ikeda from the Okayama Laboratory to come up with the possible uses of sewage because of a surplus of sewage mud.

Researchers extracted proteins and then added a reaction enhancer. They then put the mixture into an exploder which created the artificial steak by adding food colouring and a soy protein to make the poo taste better.

Testers have said that the final product tastes like beef.

The meat is made up of 63 per cent proteins, 25 per cent carbohydrates, three per cent lipids and nine per cent minerals.

Yum, sounds delicious.
