Jordan in 2-3 days
If you’re flying into Amman, head south as soon as possible to Wadi Musa – the starting point for visits to Petra. Spend two days exploring the rose-red city before taking a desert safari to a Bedouin camp in Wadi Rum. Bear in mind that this trip is far more convenient if you arrive in Aqaba.
In 7-9 days
Jordan is so compact it doesn’t really matter what order you do things in, but a week-long trip should definitely include the Roman city of Jerash (an easy day trip from Amman), the Dead Sea, Petra, and Wadi Rum. If you’ve still got time visit Madaba and Mt Nebo, where Moses is said to have first seen the Promised Land, or check out the diving resorts in Aqaba.
Two weeks +
As above but spend more time diving in Aqaba or take a ferry to Nuweiba for a chance to explore Egypt. Alternatively head west into Israel & the Palestinian Territories.
