Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin fame played a surprise gig at a community hall in Monmouth, south Wales.

The small gathering of fans paid just £3 a ticket for the performance which was arranged as a tribute to record producer and engineer Pat Moran, who died in January this year.

British rock legend, Plant, who was an unannounced guest at the July 9 charity gig, performed his own material, plus Led Zeppelin hits with three musicians from the area in front of 200 people.

Moran was an old friend and colleague of Plant’s and he produced Iggy Pop's ‘Soldier’ album as well as Robert Plant's ‘The Principle of Moments’.

Robert Plant is currently on a European tour and will return to the UK to play the Big Chill festival on August 7, performing tracks from his most recent album ‘Band Of Joy’
