Lily Allen has lost her baby it was announced today, making this the second miscarriage suffered by the singer.

Allen and her boyfriend, Sam Cooper, have asked for privacy to come to terms with the loss of their unborn baby.

The 25-year-old’s spokesman said: “It is with great sadness that we have to confirm that Lily Allen and Sam Cooper have lost their baby.

“The couple ask that their privacy be respected and that they be left alone at this deeply distressing time. No further comment will be made.”

In 2008, Lily had a miscarriage while pregnant with Chemical Brothers star Ed Simons’ baby.

A few days ago, Allen pulled out of an appearance at Elton John’s AIDS fundraiser in London, revealing that she was suffering from a viral infection.

At the time, her spokesperson said: “Lily regrets that she has had to pull out of her scheduled appearance this Saturday due to a viral infection. As Lily is pregnant and not able to take medication, she has been advised to rest until the infection clears. She apologises to Elton and to anyone attending the event.”

It is not known whether the illness played any part in Allen’s latest miscarriage. The 25-year old was six months pregnant.

In the past, Lily has told the press that having children is ultimately her “main goal in life.”
