This is exactly what one couple has done and I must admit to being more than a little bit jealous.
According to news.au.com, during 2013 the pair – Laura and Tim Sugden Brown – saved more than AUD $25,000 on rent, living for free in the inner west and eastern suburbs of Sydney.
All they did was visit Mindahome.com.au – a site founded in 2008 which matches registered house sitters with homeowners who are going away (they usually want their pets looked after) – registered online and paid AUD $49 in fees.
The couple reportedly began house sitting in May, returning to Oz after six years in the US.
They had no home and no furniture and so decided to give it a go. They have since lived in suburbs such as Marrickville, Summer Hill, Balmain, Earlwood, Sans Souci and even Grays Point.
If you fancy a bit of the action, Mindahome.com.au has some 400 available houses. Race you there…
