Conrad Readman, 49, from Colchester, spent months scouring websites for tickets so that he could be present at every day of the Games. He had taken two weeks off work to see the events.

But Readman became ill as he watched Victoria Pendleton win gold on Friday night.

The chartered accountant was discovered in the venue’s toilets and is believed to have died from a heart attack.

According to the Daily Mail, Readman had seen 16 different sports and the Opening Ceremony before he died, watching up to three sporting events a day.

He was a keen sports fan who held a season ticket for Tottenham Hotspur and had seen the England national team play around the globe.

His mother, with whom Readman had lived and cared for, said he had died doing something he loved.
