The scene: From the moment my friend and I are greeted by a doorman in traditional Indian dress, we are treated like royalty. We stop for a cocktail in the elegant downstairs bar, before making our way to the sleek, modern restaurant above.
The grub: We start with the Achari Paneer Tikka; huge chunks of Indian cheese pickled in spices and grilled in the Tandoor. Equally flavourful are the mussels toasted in lemon, coconut milk, garlic and brandy.
However, the star of the meal is undoubtedly the succulent King Prawns Pardanashi, a rich Goan curry cooked and served in a whole coconut. Veges need not fear as there’s loads to choose from – the oily, spicy baby aubergines melt in the mouth.
Behind the bar: Fully stocked bar with a range of house cocktails, extensive wine list and Cobra, Kingfisher and Honey Dew beer.
Bill please: Main courses around £12.95, vegetable sides £3.55, wine £4 a glass.
Verdict: A mix of traditional and unique dishes impeccably served in a luxurious setting.
