A Mexican man tried to escape prison by cramming himself inside his girlfriend’s suitcase.
Juan Ramirez Tijerina was found curled in the fetal position inside an oversized, black suitcase after police stopped his girlfriend as she was leaving a prison in Chetumal, the capital of the Caribbean state Quintana Roo.
The woman, 19-year-old Maria del Mar Arjona, seemed nervous and jittery as she left the prison with the noticeably bulky suitcase, according to police officials.
Since his conviction in 2007, Ramirez has been serving a 20-year sentence for illegal weapon possession.
