Plateau United Feeders beat Akurba FC 79-0 and Police Machine FC went a little easier on Bubayaro FC, winning 67-0.

The dodgy element comes in when you look at the table going into the matches, with Plateau and Police Machine on level points fighting it out for a spot in the bottom tier of Nigeria’s Nationwide League Division.

Of their 79 goals, Feeders slotted 72 in the second half – that’s 1.6 goals a minute without time added on.

Police Machine were only slightly less prolific with 61 goals in the second term.

“It is unacceptable – a scandal of huge proportions,” Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) Organising Committee chairman Muke Umeh said.

“The teams are suspended indefinitely, pending further sanctions.”

“We will investigate this matter thoroughly and get to the bottom of it.”

The NFF’s director of competitions, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, said “anyone found to have played some role in this despicable matter would be severely dealt with”.
