Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin all cancelled flights to and from Darwin, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded.
Services to Bali and Singapore were also affected as was Perth airport, with several flights grounded or delayed.
The volcano erupted late on Friday causing chaos to flights over the weekend, and future disruption hasn’t been ruled out.
