Prince Edward, Bayswater

The scene: In the backstreets of Bayswater, just around the corner from Westbourne Grove, this superior local nestles between posh apartment blocks. Either take a sofa in this comfortable, spacious venue or grab a long table if you’ve got a posse. Equally, outdoor tables provide a perfect vantage point on a nice afternoon.

The grub: Typical pub fare, but well-executed. The menus are updated regularly, but they do a good line in burgers.  If you want something fancy, go for the Kobe beef burger.

Behind the bar: A good range of ales on tap, a solid selection of wines and it scores well on the all-important Bloody Mary litmus test.

Bill please: A feed and a few beers for under £20.

Verdict: An unpretentious neighbourhood pub that delivers an environment and menu that’s a cut above your average corner boozer.
